Plot Summary

• Jon sings to the children songs from the book, “Rasmussen”.
• The students are amazed that he could know their traditional songs.
• Walski lost his temper and assaulted Jon
• Panee stood up to Walski on Jon’s behalf
• Because of her outburst Pudlo realizes that Panee likes Jon very much.
• Mr. Walski placed a no admission sign on the school door. Their conflict renews again.
• Jon goes for a walk and ends up at the Whaler’s house.
• Jon sees the scar faced man again when he thinks about the widow’s tent.
• Jon and Panee spend the evening in the old Whaler’s house.
• They speak of her arranged marriage.
• Jon and Panee make plans to fix up the house. Panee appears to have the same feeling for Jon.
• Jon vows to stop getting trouble with Mr. Walski and Calvin
• Even as Jon writes in his journal he is already making plans to move out of the Whaler’s house, to move back to Toronto. He is already breaking his promises to Panee.
